No Loaded Weapons?!?! Hey, ya Just lost my business.
(I had just finished packing the car for a quick trip to Ga. to stock up on tactical supplies for the current hurricane season.) ;D Callahan; There are many Gun Stores in Georgia that posts signs like this, but, it's only a safety precaution to protect the owners from liability of the mindless idiots. How would the owners know if your piece was loaded or unloaded. unless you brought the piece out of its holster ? Its so bad in my county, that you can plainly see the bullet holes in many gun stores. I live in a racial mixed county; Are there any questions ? ;D

.......The Counter Guy with the gray beard ( Barry ), from Moss, is the person that closed my purchase on my four inch S&W 27-2 Revolver. I had the very good fortune of stumbling upon this S&W 27-2 with a 4" inch barrel, in unfired condition, complete with the Factory Wooden Presentation Box, all the paperwork, and a factory tuned double action trigger. S&W only offered these revolvers with the counter sunk cylinders, pinned barrels, in the four inch barrels for only a couple years, before switching over to the 27-3. The counter guy at Moss wasn't too familiar with the gun, and I fetched it for $475. dollars, after I talked him down $25. ;D From the very beginning, Smith & Wesson understood the importance of building a Combat Revolver of superior strength to handle the energy of the .357 magnum. The introduction of the Registered .357 Magnum on the S&W N Frame, in 1935, remains a landmark in handgun history. The S&W Model 27 picked up where the Registered 357 magnum left off with it's designation Model Number. From today's standards of modern handguns, those features of the Model 27 would not be found in a production grade handgun. DoubleAction.

To me thats only common sence as we have had several accidents happen here in Gunshops where they thought the gun was UNLOADED but WAS NOT. We have signs that read that the breech must be open and all trigger locks must in position on the outside of our gunshops here. They also want them in a case as well before entering. I don't want to shoot some clerk while making a deal as I am sure the price will go up for sure with all the extra expences paying for him and the fines and lawsuits as well. Probably won't be Welcome any longer at their store as well.

blueglass; The "Unloaded" sign is for those morons that the owners don't know or trust. I have never been in the "GUNS" store, but, we have the same kind of signs, on the front door, of our Gun Range.
......No Way, that I would walk from the Gun Range, carrying a thousand dollars pistol, without being armed with a loaded weapon. More than twenty strangers would be watching me firing my pistols, and anyone of them might have this silly notion of taking my pistol.

...These Firearm Counter Salesmen has some tales to tell, about people carrying loaded firearms into the stores; Scary, to say the least.
....When I was serving time in Vietnam, I would go to these camps that had the Post Exchange Stores and there was 55 gallon drums buried in the ground, with the top cut off, filled sand, and this was where we cleared the chamber of our weapon, before entering the PX Store. I was 18 years old, and I did what the sign told me to do, whether or not the weapon was already cleared.

I understand why now of course Double action why you do what you do in your area where we don't seem to have that kind of problem here at all. Even our outdoor ranges here you have to wear ID so we know who you are or you are not there at all. If they do not comply with our ID requests then we just call the Police and they are gone real quick. Right now its too dam cold outside to shoot much so we are on the indoor range where I am the Range Officer on Tuesday nights. Currently around 28 below here at night and minus 10 on average during the day. No ID No entrance and they better be licenced as well as they have to sign in with all their serial no's as well. AS I shoot more then just pistol I am well recognized at our club even tho we have almost 700 members between all the different shooting disaplines we have there. If its safety related they hear me roar.

blueglass; Nothing is much difference in our ranges, that where you live. Most newcomers to the Ranges don't know about the benefits of using foam ear plugs with a combination of outer muffs; This causes them to cut their range visit shorter. Another, is wearing Shirts with V-Style Necklines. These are just two, of many, that the newcomers are not prepared for, when arriving at the range. The Safety issues has created a paranoid atmosphere, at our range, so bad, that after over 20 years of going to our range, I was required to watch a 30 minute video before going into the Range area. The evolution of mankind has been riding in the wrong lane, in our Nation, for quite some time, especially in our area.

I do understand the extra hearing protection of course but we are not so fussy on the shirt requirements as long as they are done up fairly high. No burners going down which we all know smarts a fair bit sometimes. Even our range officers usually don't shoot while they are in charge unless its a experienced crowd shooting. Every guest who shoots has a person about 2 feet standing behind him as well for safety sakes. We can grab control if the need arises much quicker this way. We are actually in the process of taking the Cheif Firearms Officer of the Province which is Ontario to Court as he is trying to make up carrying rules without the consent of Parliment here. Thats completely illegal for him to do and we are nailing him on it. This is being done by our CSSA which is our Canadian Sports Shoooting Association which we are all members of. He wants us all to have travel permits to visit another club which takes about 2 weeks everytime to get. At the moment we just go and shoot and go straight home.

The CSSA filed a large suit against the CFO himself to set a example as the same person in this position in New Brunswick is also trying to do the same garbage of setting up his own rules illegally. There's at least 50,000 of us saying NO you are Not making the rules at all but merely only to enforce the proper ones our Parliament creates. I suspect the Politicians will step all over him for causing problems as its going to cost the province lots of money to defend him. They are already in serious trouble over missing and wasted money which they are going to be held accountable for especially at the next election. Around a Billion dollars so far.
