The guy who wrote the caption decided it was a "self-propelled rocket launcher."

.....I never had much use for the LAW; when I was in Vietnam , because the ones that we had was disposable after the first shot and I really didn't run into any enemy tanks or vehicles.

.....However; I did have my own a M-79 Grenade Launcher during my tour ;D

You mentioning the M-79 reminded me of the scene in Apocalypse Now when they got way upriver and met the black GI late one night -- "Who's in charge here, soldier?"
"I thought you were, sir."
Recall that scene?
He would yell at "Charlie" and then lob in M-79 rounds...

That movie was too made up, staged, and too clean and could get into it.

My M-79 also had beehive round too !!

...I would practice in the free fire zones with the M-79; Many called it a hand held shoulder fired mortar tube.
