When it gets busy at the range, I stop shooting and pay attention to adherance to the safety rules, since as the RO, I'm responsible for what happens on the range.
One of the things that seems to be fairly popular (not counting the "Glocks") are the Thompson Center single shot pistols. On Friday one of the members had one with two barrels. Each of the barrels had its own scope mounted on it, and they were rifle scopes. I've not seen anyone with a pistol scope on one of these. Not really sure why. People hold them with both hands and usually the left hand is holding the scope vs. the pistol itself.
Another of my observations is that people seem to think that the RO is the expert on everything. I think that has built a false sense of pride and I hate to show my ignorance. So I ponder, and ask questions here on the forum.
I'm thinking if I got one, I'd want the Contender because you can't shoot rimfire as well as small powered centerfire.
Thoughts?

Shooting rifle rounds out of a handgun never appealed to me. The certainly are popular for hunting though.

"Hunting?" The funny thing is that nearly all the ones I see are chambered for 22LR and are used in competition shooting the turkey, chicken, and pig targets. One of our members has 12 national titles. The guy on Frinday had just bought his used and it came with a 22LR and a 22 Hornet barrel. I was looking at one of his targets that was shot at 50yards, and I said: "that is a really good group for a 22; what kind of ammo was it". He replied: "handloads". I'm sure I must have had a really stupid look on my face so he went on to explain: "22 Hornet" You can't really tell from the size of the hole.
