I looked over the election results for my county, not a single Democrat was elected at the county level. Governor, Attny Gen, Auditor, Sec of State, Treasurer, US Senate, and our local Representative to US Congress, both State Reps, County Commisioner, Auditor-- all Republican.
And Sunday beer sales passed at a local grocery.. only by a couple of votes.

In Texas, you cannot buy beer or wine before noon on Sundays, including at restaurants. Tends to make brunches start a bit late. We showed up at a place for shrimp one Sunday and had to wait until noon to order. I mean, really, shrimp without beer?!?

I worked with a Canadian for a few years and learned that you can't buy beer at the supermarket there. They have special "beer stores", much like liquor stores here.

5OT, I guess Obama should have gone to Ohio to help out the Democrats. ;D ;D ;D Yeah, he only made it here in Aug, Sept, and Oct to help campaign. As for beer and liquor sales. I was shocked when I moved to Ohio from Illinois. Liquor can only be purchased from a State store, no independent establishments and no grocery stores. Well, you can buy it from groceries and such, but it has to be diluted down below a certain %. In Illinois, there are no state run stores, just head into the local grocery and show them ID, if they ask. Something else I'd not seen until I moved to Ohio was the drive through shop. It is basically a big garage with refrigerators down either side. An attendant comes out and asks you what you want, gets it and loads it into your car for you. That doesn't encourage drinking and driving???
