I've never been a big fan of the Beretta M9/92xx design. I've seen several guns in stores where, while the gun was locked up, I could wiggle the barrel around in the slide. I read somewhere about a guy that was putting bushings in like on a 1911 to improve the precision (MLB, I almost said accuracy).
The Beretta 92 Steel-I came out of "the safe". It is a nice gun, but I never really appreciated it much. The interesting thing, which I never thought much about, is the open barrel. When the slide comes back the barrel and "breech" are completely open. Stovepipe? impossible!!!
Now I must admit that I have a SA not a DA/SA; I probably wouldn't be as impressed if it had the DA/SA trigger.
As a defensive weapon, I don't think you could come up with a better design. [Forgive me, John Moses Browning, and don't come haunt me; I have enough troubles]

How To Make The 92FS 9mm Shoot "New modifications are making the country’s much-maligned Beretta service sidearm much more accurate."Our Old Friend : Jack Weigand : I The last time that I heard about Jack Weigand, he was retired. If you can find The Weigand Nosepiece, it wouldn't be very difficult to locate a gunsmith to do the installation.

That nosepiece is very clever. Excellent link.

A SA variant of the 92FS?
If I could find one of those I would probably already have one. Always liked the gun but couldn't get past the mandatory DA/SA pull and the silly slide mounted safety/decocker. Always liked the Taurus design better.

TBT, unfortunately they only made it for a couple of years. The Steel-I was made in two variations: one with the DA/SA and the other with SA. Lucky for me: I got the one with the SA trigger.
