I've heard talk of a Ruger 1911. Anyone read anything on such an animal?

I've said for years that they are due to introduce one. Other than my own voice in my head, I haven't heard anything. Seems they've been busy with plastic revolvers and recall work the past few years.

.....MLB; I have been waiting for the same thing, for almost ten years, for Ruger to come to the plate on their own version of the 1911.
.....What I want to see from Ruger, is a 1911 with hammered forged steel and polished blue slides, frames, and steel components.

I was hoping for as much from Remington, but have lost interest in that one. Hopefully Ruger will put aside their plastic factory for a bit.

Maybe they are waiting to be sure it becomes a successful platform. "For 2111, the Ruger 1911..."

All that fuss for a copy of the Kel-Tec PF-9. Ah well, it compliments their copy of the P3AT.

A bit of background is in order I suppose.
I got an email from Ruger trumpeting the "Next gun you just have to own". Wait for the big announcement on Jan 3 at 2pm. I'd heard of the possibility of Ruger making a 1911, feared it would be partially plastic.
Both happy and sad at the announcement; Bummed that it wasn't a 1911, happy that the latest Tupperware is just a PF-9 clone.
I prefer egg-nog over Kool-Aid!
