For the last several months the Pondmaster pump and filter in the pond have been shooting water higher and higher into the air. Normally, the filter plugs up with fish poop or whatever, and the stream of water into the air decreases, but now it has been increasing and increasing. The pump is a magnetic drive, which means there is no physical connection between the motor and the impeller. I've had the impeller wear on a pump before and it resulted in less water being shot into the air instead of more. So I have been wondering and wondering what is going on. The problem is when the wind is from the north, it blows water from the pond into the swimming pool. Not a desirable thing. I contemplated buying a new pump with less capacity. Then it finally dawned on me: if you take a garden hose and squeeze the end of it, the water shoots out further. I pulled out the pipe that comes from the submersed pump and sure enough, it had a coating of crud inside it. A little work with some cleaner and a tooth brush and now I have a clean pipe and it no longer shoots water way up into the air. Mystery solved!!! Now if I could only figure out why this gun shoot brass back at me!!!
