I was watching American Rifleman on TV this week, and they covered the Remington-Rand 1911A1. It was particularly interesting to me because the gun that they showed had "Syracuse N.Y. U.S.A. on the left slide of the gun. This is different from Remington Arms in Ilion, NY who used to be one of my customers. However, since I went to high school in Syracuse, NY it really picqued my interest. Sure wish that I owned one.

From their site: The Remington Model 1911 R1 is manufactured with pride and precision, to the exacting standards you’ve come to expect from Remington. Right here in Ilion, New York. It's in the Overview right under the photo: www.1911r1.com/Products/Firearms/Model-1911r1.aspx

Callahan, Remington-Rand is a different company than Remington Arms, although I understood they were started by Remington himself. Remington-Rand makes sewing machines, but during the War they were making a very high quality 1911 compared to some of the other war-time manufacturers.

Sorry, I read right over that you were not talking about the new one.
