So on Saturday I was doing yard work in a T-shirt and sweating. It was sunny, in the 70's, and I was in the sun.
Today, like yesterday, we are in the teens for the second straight day after the storm.
Yesterday we had an 1-1/2hour power outage. I was getting worried about the water in the pool filter, pumps, and pipes freezing. Turns out that the electricity was shut of delibrately because the grid was overloaded. The grid is only at 80% capacity because of routine maintenance. I used to think it was great that Texas had its own grid and was independent from the rest of the nation. Not so great in this case.
If I wanted cold weather like this, I'd move back to upstate New York.

Weatherman cried wolf on Monday, and just about all of Buffalo and the surrounding suburbs shut down the next day. We got a few inches, maybe 6 in the worst spots. Everyone was waiting for the "big snow" of about 16 inches. Nuthin.
We do have the cold for you though. 11 degrees this morning. Brr.

We got ice, and hardly any snow. Most of the area businesses were closed for a day or two. The car the front walk I'd take 16+" of snow any day over the ice we got last week.

Agreed. That ice is much worse than snow. I'd imagine that the power lines are a mess. A few years ago we got a big ice storm in October, while the trees still had their leaves. They collected so much weight that it broke hundreds of old trees.
