Hi guys I have a question for you I have the chance of choosing between a new S&W model 29-2 8 3/8 barrel new in box and never fired serial N663XXX Blue for $1000.00
or a S&W 29 no dash, blue no box, and 6.5 barrel lenght excellent condition original grips, pachmir grips, holster, and speed loaders (I guess it has been used!) for 700.00
Wich one would be a better gun/investment
I am looking forward to hear from you
Thanks

First off; Welcome to our forum In my own opinion; S&W 29 no dash, blue no box, and 6.5 barrel length at $700. as the better deal. Reasoning behind this : ....The 6.5" is the original "Dirty Harry" version, that made the S&W 29 so popular among the general movie going public. ....The 6.5" is less muzzle heavy. .....And S&W manufactured more 29-2 runs, meaning that there ae more to be had on the market. .....I have a Nickel Plated 29-2 Four Inch ...."The 29-2 had the longest production run of any other model 29, from 1961 until 1982, making it the most available in the pre-owned market place." handgunforum.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=display&action=display&thread=2221....In the 6 1/2 has the the original S&W grips and it's in excellent condition, You might have stumbled on a very good find. In 1976, these "Dirty Harry" 29's in the 6 1/2" was fetching $500. dollars on the pre-owned markets. ...I having a 29-3 in the 6" because S&W quit making the 29 in the 61/2". handgunforum.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=display&action=display&thread=2222...If you would like; I will do a some more research in my S&W price $ collector books today.

Yes, I too would go with the no dash model. If it is in nice shape, that is an excellent price!
