I was next to a father and son, both well aged, on Friday. The son had the S&W M&P and the father the XDM.
Looking at their targets, the father did much better than the son. Then they swapped guns. Dad's remark was: " this sure has a lot better trigger feel than the XDM". At this point I butted in and informed them that the M&P had an internal hammer vs the striker of the Glock. The father proceeded to shoot much better with the Glock than he did with his son's pistol.

Was he comparing it to the Glock or the XDM?
Honestly my groups are probably tighter with my Glock during slow fire but not when shooting with any kind of defensive pace like double taps or any kind of strings. The M&P handles extremely well. Better than any gun I’ve ever fired before.
I’ve never shot an XDM (not a fan of the series) but the XD is about the only plastic gun I’ve ever fired where I could honestly say the trigger was nicer than my M&P.
There is currently a lot of internet chatter on gun boards regarding the apparent lack of accuracy the M&P has at/over distances of 25 yards. Not a concern for me as I rarely shoot past 15 yards but apparently the barrel is “unlocking early” on a good percentage of the models most likely due to tolerance stacking from the factory.
I would ignore this chatter and write it off if several well respected industry professionals (Randy Lee at Apex Tactical, Irv from Barsto, and Bruce Grey to name a few) weren’t in agreement that it was a common enough issue that it needs addressed.

Sorry TBT, I realize after reading my post that it was confusing. The father was first shooting the XDM and then he started shooting his Glock. The XDM was brand new. Both the Glock and XDM are striker fired.
