Too bad they don't allow that at our range. It looks like it is in a Thompson Center type single-shot pistol. Notice in the first clip that the guy is leaning into it, but doesn't have his elbows locked. At least he was able to hold onto it.
Notice in the second clip where he is holding the gun with his left hand. If that was a revolver, the gas escaping from the cylinder/forcing cone gap would have gotten him big time.
The article referenced at the top points out that because of the heavy weight of the gun, the recoil is manageable. I can believe that because they state that the cartridge is 3X times what the S&W 500 Magnum packs for a punch.
