Can't say that I even knew about it, but looks like they even sell the stuff in 55gal drums! Perfect for TMan!

TMan; I wouldn't use it. There many products specially designed for firearms. TA sent me one of his silicone cloths a few years ago and it's very good. I have many gun cloths, but, this one seems as though it's wet and never dries out. I use this on my blue steel and nickel plated finishes to wipe down after handling.

Looks like it would work very nicely. I've used a number of different products that aren't specifically designed for guns, lubriplate and other greases, synthetic ATF and Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil for lube and protection on guns too. When I forget to wipe the gas piston off before firing, the cleanup isn't nearly as bad since I switched from gun oil to motor oil. I like to cover everything with oil to prevent corrosion, but generally the pistons are supposed to be dry when firing. The fouling was bad when I forgot to clean gun oils off, but it is pretty easy when I forget and leave the motor oil on it. I thought briefly about it (that's all I'm capable of), motor oil is designed to provide lubrication, corrosion resistance, and help prevent carbon buildup. Seems like a good thing for a gun. But I don't own the quality of firearms that many of you have, and YMMV. an interesting side note, a friend had some reloading case lube. When he opened it, I recognized the smell, but could not place it. I looked on the side of the tub, and it listed other uses as water proofing and conditioning leather including boots and mitts. Down farther...Mink Oil.

....Come to think about it; There was a time when I used 30 wt. motor oil on my revolver ( that was when a had just one piece ). It worked, I still have this S&W and it shines like a new penny with a mirror blued finish.
