Normally when someone comes out with something new, and others copy it, I want nothing to do with the copies. However, I have to hand it to S&W with the Governor because I think it is an improvement on the Taurus Judge. Gunblast did a review on it: www.gunblast.com/SW-Gov.htmWhat I find interesting from the article is that the gun will also shoot 45 GAP. So that gives you .410, 45 Colt, 45 ACP, and 45 GAP all out of the same revolver. Either they didn't mention it, or I missed it, but the gun is on a new frame: the "Z" frame. At first I wondered why a different frame, and then it dawned on me that it had to be because of the long cylinder. The S&W web-site has information at: www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Category4_750001_750051_769651_-1_757767_757751_imageThe other thing I find interesting is that it has a scandium alloy frame. At least it isn't ugly (and I am a USFA fan in general).

Shot the Governor today. "I shot the Sheriff, but I didn't shoot the deputy down..." Sorry. Interesting gun. The front sight had a night sight, but the back was just a groove. The target was at 50 feet and the rounds were .410 Handgun Federal rounds (000 Buckshot), 45 Long Colt, and 45ACP. Unfortunately, there wasn't any 45 GAP. The cylinder was loaded with 2 rounds of each. Then the sadist spun the cylinder. I had no idea what was going to go off when I pulled the trigger. I couldn't tell much difference between the 45LC and 45ACP, but it was obvious when the .410 rounds went off. We all were using the same target, which was a Shoot-N-C target in a large frame that was covered in paper. The 45 rounds were dispersed throughout the target, but the .410 rounds were on the paper, high and to the left. Nice gun, but I prefer my Taurus Raging Judge because of its 454 Casull capability. I didn't notice much difference between shooting the 454 Casull in the Raging Judge and the 410 Buckshot in the Governor from a recoil standpoint. When it comes to S&W, give me the 500.
