My dealer calls me up the other day and says he's going to order a Hi Power for one of his other clients (a Hi Power collector), and one for himself. He didn't want me to feel left out, so asked if he should order one for me too. (He ordered one for himself too) These are used, carried much and fired little turn-ins. Picked it up and shot it last night. I now know why so many people bypass/remove the mag disconnect. The trigger is certainly nothing to brag about, and I hope it improves with a little work. It does handle nicely, the steel frame is a plus in my book. (I think it is about 2lbs loaded) For those that don't know, or can't remember what a Hi Power looks like: Some pics of my old workhorse coming soon...

The BHP is one of my favorites. I haven't messed with the disconnect, but I probably will sooner or later. Before that though, I'm more likely to get rid of that ambi-safety. Mine has it too, and I don't like it.

I still haven't seen anything that I think is as clever as the internal design of the BHP.
If you don't want to remove the magazine disconnect, you can polish it with a Dremel and Flitz, and also polish the area on the magazine where it connects. I removed mine.
You can also reduce some of the tension on the trigger return spring.
I also, using the Power Custom tool, changed the angle on the sear to make the engagement less positive.
So after all my work - it still doesn't come close to the trigger feel on my 1911's.

After a month, I finally got around to snapping a couple pics. Here she is fresh out of the box. This was one of the VG condition guns that Royal Tiger/IO/InterOrdnance was selling a month or two ago. These were police turn-ins from ....I can't remember. Nothing really exceptional this particular Hi Power, but I said I'd post some pictures.
