However, the range that the RFID can be detected depends upon the power of the transceiver/RFID chip. I can envision down the road that the "progressives" will require RFID's permanently installed in handguns. So when you walk into a restricted area, like an airport, an alarm would sound.

If the rfid chip is molded into the gun how are you going to defeat it other than with shielding?

......The metal detectors being used, in Airports and Government buildings is very sensitive.....At one time, I went to the Federal Building in Atlanta. in 1999, and a detector used by a U. S. Marshall picked up a small aluminum from a chewing wrapper in my pocket, and this was after I was rejected by the metal detector at the door.
......Is this another money making gimmick that makes no sense ?

So far, the chips are easily removed, as they are stickers. I haven't put any real effort into looking into defeating them, but it seems to me that a quick trip in the microwave would do the trick.
