..."*Do not use slot-type patch holders, You do not want to drag dirty patches back and forth through the bore. Each patch gets one trip only."
.....Let's not forget that he is referring to cleaning Rifles.

I've always used the slot-type. Would you otherwise push one through with a blunt tip?

......I use the slot type patch holders on the rod, except for the Volksquarten Match Barrel, which I pull the patch through with a fishing line.
.....I finish cleaning my standard handgun barrels by using a jag.
....I usually use the slot tips for soaking the bore of the barrel with cleaning solvent, and then later use a bore brush to clean the fouling.
....Some Bore Jags are made from plastic and some are made from brass.
......I also use brass rods for my Rifles, with ball bearing handles made by Dewey.

.....Above the Red Handled Rod, you should be able to see a clear plastic syringe that I use to draw the cleaning solvent from the bottle.....This prevents the solvent from being diluted with fouling and other solvents from the bore brushes. .....The By Way; The WD40 is just there for other reasons, not for Firearms. DA, the plastic syringe is a great idea. It has always bugged me that the solvent got dirty, and I ususally dumped it out before it was used up just because it looked so dirty.
I was told by the guy that used to be the head of Southwestern USA for the federal govenment that he used WD-40 all the time as a cleaner and as a perservative, but not as an oil.
I remember watching him coat the barrel of his rifles with a rag that had been dipped in alcohol to cool the barrel down between shots.

...TMan; Take notice to the exhaust fan, with that said :
....The WD40 in a compressed container and having a very low evaporated threshold, to loosen seized bolts......When being Airborne in a closed room..... ;D ...Get my drift ?
.....Gun Room also has Video Equipment to one side, leather holsters on the wall, special occasion clothes in the closet, a VHS library on the shelf, and not to mention the gun art posters ;D
.....The WD40 would wreak nothing but havoc in this room.
.....The Gun Scrubber is more controllable and it has high evaporated threshold with a low pressure sprayer.
....I once used WD40 and brake cleaner ( bores), but I had to go outside to the back of the property ;D...It didn't take me long to find other products that was more suited to my purposes ;D
