VP Biden has proven himself to be an idiot. His rhetoric, which was so abusive I won't repeat it, was in response to peoples jobs being temporary if this bill was passed. His point was that without this bill passing police wouldn't be there to prevent a violent crime. In case you never heard it Mr VP, you may have the Secret Service to protect you, but we don't have police to protect us. The police investigate crimes after they occur, they aren't there to prevent them from happening.

An instructor for one of my CCW classes summed it up well. The police motto "to serve and protect" can be a bit of a misnomer. Just try to call the local PD and tell them you wish to be protected by a police officer. While they do provide some protective services, the bulk of their work today is "in the act and after the fact" type work.

...I got this phrase from reading Newspaper Comic Strips as child :
Snuffy Smith " He is not worth the scraps that he eats" ....Snuffy was talking about his dog.
