At first I thought this was a little over the top: then I saw this: Lot of money ($3200) for guns that don't have any engraving.

Hmmm. Interesting to look at, but I can't see how they'd sell that many of them.

Give me a plane Jane police turn-in from the 80's-90's and I'll be happy. A few scratches here and there will hide the ones that I will undoubtedly add over my period of ownership.

"A few scratches..." yikes. I'm extremely careful with my guns. We have carpet fragments at the range, so when I set them down they don't even contact wood. So far I've never scratched a gun. We have a rule that you can't take your hand over a loaded gun. So when I let someone shoot one of my guns, I hand it to them, they shoot, and hand it back. What worries me the most is rust. Fortunately, I don't live where Callahan lives or I'd worry even more about rust. Even though I'm extremely careful, there are still guns that I doubt I'll ever shoot. I have a friend that has a gold plated Beretta 92 that is in a display case having a glass front. He inherited it from his dad. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, he didn't inherit the key to open it.

That may keep a range gun in pristine condition, but I can appreciate some wear on a carry pistol. Shows that's it's been put to its intended use.

My P5 (bought used of course) shows quite a bit of holster wear, but no scratches). I wonder if you get holster wear on polymer pistols (other than on the slide of course). Becky has an H&K that has a "scratch" on the side of the polymer. It looks like someone took a key and dug it into it. I told her that no way could that have been done accidentally. One of her customers offered to buy it at far less than she paid for it. Makes me very suspecious. Were it not for the fact it was 40 S&W, I would have bought it just to spite him.
