"Local groups want Georgia's 'Stand Your Ground' law abolished"

Students from Morehouse, Spelman, Clark Atlanta, as well as representatives from the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus, Concerned Black Clergy of Atlant, the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, and the NAACP (the list goes on), have planned a march and rally for 5:30 p.m. on Monday, March 26 at the Capitol.

The groups are also taking issue with pro-gun bills that have been introduced this year which include measures that would lower the carry age from 21 to 18 and would allow for concealed weapons to be brought into church. Rally attendees are encouraged to wear hoodies and bring Skittles — two things that have become symbolic of the Martin incident.

...Although I am a very strong supporter of The Stand Your Ground Laws, I'm not in favor for armed Neighborhood Watch Volunteers patrolling public streets. I have seen that neighbors, that has nothing better to do, than look & peep out their windows, is the best Neighborhood Watch Program that we have.

....More crimes in Neighborhoods has been solved, by Neighbors calling in to report unusual activity.

......Another Question might be : What Does Neighborhood Watch Mean To You ?

...In My Opinion, it means this : Observe and Report suspicious activity, crimes, or potential threats to the proper authorities.......Nothing More and Nothing Less.

.....Don't place the blame on the Law, Place the blame on the person that pulled the trigger

.....This incident has been bothering me and I think that I have arrived to my own opinion about this incident.

.....If the shooter pursued the so called threat, confronted him with exchange of words; The only thing that this would create is more hosilty among the two....Being Armed; He should already known better to engage in a exchange of words with a stranger.

...The shooter made his first mistake by getting out of his vehilce; After this, he was on the offensive. This is something that I would never do......He should have called 911, when he seen any threat......If there was an actual threat in the first place.

.....Under "The Stand Your Ground Law" , or what the media refers to "The No Duty to Retreat Law", there are rules of engagement; It's called "Self Defense". If someone was chasing me down the street, without cause, and he wasn't identifying himself has an officer of the law, and he continued his pursuit, I would have no other choice than to stop and Stand My Ground against the pursuer.

.....Even if the shooter could show any proof of a struggle or a fight, the young man had the same equal rights to defend himself has the shooter. Who was chasing Who, and for what reason ?

......I can understand more clearly, after placing myself in shoes of the young man and his parents.

And the former Florida governor, Jeb Bush, who signed the bill into law in 2005 and supported its passage, said Saturday he did not think it should protect Zimmerman, who shot the unarmed teen after trailing him as Trayvon walked to the home of a family friend living in the same gated community as Zimmerman.

“Stand your ground means stand your ground. It doesn’t mean chase after somebody who’s turned their back,” Bush said while speaking at the University of Texas in Arlington.

....What really stinks, is the attacks on our Self Defense Laws. Has long has the shooter is not charged, our self defense laws will be in question.

....Georgia's State Capital has been taking a lot protests, on our self defense laws, since the media blew it up.

....If Obama could be elected has our President, that means that anything can happen.
