Well this was weird. Looking for something else, I found the Remington 504 with a Tasco 1.5-5 EXP scope. At the range when I pulled it out, one of the members asked: "why would you put a scope like that on that gun?". My reply: "because I'm stupid".
I noticed something black on my hand and went to clean it off. The 504 had drawn a crowd. It has a very heavy barrel, that is stamped "22LR Match".
One of the members was looking at the scope and said: "the scope is sticky". It was sticky. The rubber coating on the scope was coming off and that was what the black stuff was on my hand. I tried wiping it off and it was a mess.
The scope is going back to Bushnell, who now owns the Tasco name (original company went under).
Even though the scope was the wrong scope for the gun, the gun shot beautifully. After letting one of the members shoot it, his remark was: "I need to get one of these". As I recall, it is actually the 504-T, although it isn't marked on the barrel as such.
So the scope is going back for its "lifetime" repair, and I'm looking for an "AO" scope that is worthy of this rifle.

I understand that Redfield scopes are still made in the USA. I'll probably look into them the next time I'm in the market. www.redfield.com/

Bushnell also own Serengeti glass's as well as many other companies now. I do have one of their scopes on my one Anschutz 22lr. I now know I actually own 2 Annies with my Maroochi rifle being of a Anschutz build design as well. They only built one model of a semi-auto and I have it with free parts for life coming. Gonna have to raise the price on that gun when I sell it for sure.

Gonna have to raise the price on that gun when I sell it for sure. What's this talk of selling...with all the heat we've been having, I know hell isn't freezing over. Well, sticking with the made in USA theme (I know you didn't start it, but MLB did), Leupold is another USA company. www.leupold.com/

.....The some rubber will dissolve, if certain solvents comes in contact with the material.

DA, this gun was in a case. It may have been a chemical reaction between the case and the rubber on the scope. I never cleaned the rifle, so there were never any solvents near it. I'm sending the scope in because it has a lifetime warranty. I just need to find a box to send it in. I expect to get it out sometime this week. Then I'll have to buy a rifle for it. I'm getting a Mueller 8-32x44 and it should be here on Wednesday. muelleroptics.com/mu83244tdIt has a 30mm tube so I'm going to have to make a run to Cabalas to get new rings. According to the lastest (2010) Blue Book that I have, the rifle is worth $700, and based on its performance it is worth the better scope.

I have just found out the gun also has a cracked firing pin in it as well. Now that I have two more mags from Switzerland for it and the proper extractor from Italy for it and the gun design is from Germany I need a firing pin that I found at Numerich in the US. Certainly going to be world effort to get this old beast running again. God I can build a Race engine quicker but still this is part of the challenge in keeping something working when its a rare model piece. It makes it more of a challenge sometimes but well worth the effort when you are finally done. Probably won't be worth all that much but at least its kept me busy and off the streets and I have also learned a lot about it as well as the manufacturers of this brand.

Sometimes, working on them is half the fun. Much like cars.

Got a postcard in the mail today from Bushnell telling me that they had received the scope, and they gave me a link to check on the status.
