....This Film making development process helped to save our movie industry......Television created a crushing blow to the theatre attendance. ....Although the CINERAMA Screens wasn't in every town or city, it led to the Widescreen experience in movie theatres. .....When I was growing up, during the 50's & 60's, "Motion Picture Theatres" was like Palaces, with Balconies and large Stages with curtains.....Much different than "Movie Theaters".

WE had the same type of nice theatres here as well with the big balconeys and red carpeting. They would escort you to your seat with a falshlight and make sure you were comfortable. Some of the little bad kids whom I will not name would throw water ballons from the balconey or popcorn boxs at the screen on occasion until they were asked to leave or else. Yes the movies were a real treat in those special effect colours as it opened the door for a lot of new science in this field. Now I believe its 70mm Dolby sound in many of them which is virtually mind blowing.

....blueglass; At one time, We had civil obedience in our Movie Houses. Now; The horror show begins before entering the Movie, and gets worse inside.
......I remember having Uniform Ushers, with flashlights, escorting costumers to their seats. The Uniforms reminded me of a Bell Captain at an upper class hotel or a military band leader.
....I also remember when there was Elevator Operators, in the downtown shopping stores. On each floor, the operator would call out the floor, and what items was on that floor. This was before the Shopping Centers and The Malls. Life was very civilized and safe back then. .......Now; These times are nothing but ghostly reminders, of a bygone era, in our history books.

I am with you on a lot of those memories myself as we had them as well. It was a more peaceful time of life for all of us. Then the fast food retaurants came flooding in and life totally changed as we knew it. The pace quickened and the family way of eating together or doing things seemed to just vanish. It didn't take that many years as well for it to happen.
