The Canadian army used the Ross rifle at the beginning of the 1st war but soon got rid of them for the Enfields. The Ross apparently killed as many of our men as it did the enemy because of the bolt blowing back when fired. It would catch our troops in the facial area if not locked down correctly and was usually a fatal wound.

One has to be careful shooting the broomhandles, it has nasty hammer bite. The high grip that many of us are accustomed to, does not work so well shooting that gun.
