It's funny. I was reading how the 1911 was designed to be taken down without tools. I did largely do so, aside from those hex head screws which obviously require an appropriate wrench. The slotted screws were intended to be removed with an expended case, I've read.
The trigger is still a bit loose in its track. Alas, no side adjustment tabs on this one. It must just look that way in the picture. Perhaps someday I'll order a fitted trigger, but I'll live with the play for now.
I'm very happy with it. I'm glad that it is a series 70 style gun. Simple is good. The firing pin is titanium, and noticeably light. I won't be dropping it on its muzzle to test out the inertia theroy though.
I do have a weak spot for American made firearms that are all steel and wood.

Think about it: when it was designed, the Wright Brothers were still building bicycles.

We still have a ammo shortage up here mainly with the 22 cal stuff. CCI in particular. Pistol powder is also in extremely limited supply also. Primers are OK and so are lead slugs for basically any cal you wish to reload. Everything else has come back to normal it seems. The larger cal hunting ammo is in good supply and so is all shotgun as well. Just bought 25lbs of Black Powder a few weeks ago at a heck of a great price. $15.00 per lb for NO.2 which is what we shoot the most. NO. 3 and 4 are also easy to obtain as well. Don't use much of them unless you are shooting a Flintlock.

I have a Norinco Sports model 1911 in the 2 tone colors. Its a nice shooting gun but the finish is not as nice as some of the other brands out there. It fires quite well and has the trick trigger and hammer and a sport spring in it. Overall I would rate it a 8.5 for quality and trigger feel. Funny I found a fresh unopened box of 50- 45's in the garbage can at the club about 2 weeks ago along with a pile of 357's and 9mms. I gather them up for friends but kept the 45's for myself of course. Somebody threw them away or didn't realize it was a full unfired box. Score one for me. That's worth about $24.95 plus tax up here.

It's been a while since I've been out shooting. For the short term, it will have to be handguns anyway. Left wrist & shoulder wont tolerate recoil well at this point.

Even with the colder weather setting in up here I am shooting at least twice a week with my handguns alone and twice with my Black Powder rifles also. Just sold a Black Powder rifle yesterday 45 cal percussion with the good Lyman peep sights on it for $300.00. Bought it a month ago at a gunshow for $275.00. Still have 2 to go.
