Ever have a dream that woke you up and you could remember clearly. Last night was one of those.
I was at a car dealership trading in a Chrysler for a new one. (I've owned a lot of Chryslers back in the day because of the torsion bars, and me being susceptable to motion sickness). They gave me a price on the new one, and then someone came in and told me what they were going to give me for my old car. It was around half of what I thought it was worth and it only had 25,000 miles on it.
The guy tried to tell me that they were giving me more than 1,000 over what they thought it was worth. I told them no deal because they were charging me MSRP for the new vehicle.
I then asked them if that was the best they could do. They replied "yes", so I got up to leave. They then pulled that old "tell us what we need to do in order to sell you this car".
My reply was: well, either there is nothing that you can do or you were lying when you told me you couldn't do any better, and I walked out the door. If only I could be that tough and real life.
Oh, and what is with dreams like this. I used to dream about girls. Getting old really sucks.

I usually pull out a $100.00 bill and make them a lowball offer and do this in the last week of January as no-body is buying a car or truck then. You will be amazed their reaction on what comes back from the salesmanager. I bought a 1984 Seville in 1985 and offered them $17.100 for it with the $100.00 bill in hand. Time it was done I paid $17,750 for it. They were asking over $25.000 for it. I have bought 6 more Caddies since all about a year old but still actually own the 84 which is just like new still. It gets the garage while my current STS sits outside I have A 1991 small Fleetwood also in the barn with original paint on it as well. Don't ever be afraid to insult them as they will do the same to you to start with by their price on your car. See your bank for the wholesale book to see what yours is really worth before going in.
