For me to get my Black Badge I need a holster that will handle my 45apc and a duty belt they tell me. $180.00 for the course as well as up to 800 rounds of ammo to go with it. Any gun over a 9mm will do but a 45 is better recommended they claim. Its a full 3 day course with a lot of shooting over the 3 days no less. At least 5 mags also to go with your gun to speed things up as well. What rig would you folks recommend for me to get?

A sturdy belt is a necessity. I often wear a thinner dress belt that is entirely unsuitable for holster use. A thicker leather belt will make a world of difference, especially with an OWB holster and a steel firearm.

Yes that is the pistol we will be useing if I take this course. They specify a gun like that with this other equipment. I actually have some thick belts which I use with my toolbelts that may work just fine but the holster is now the main object I will require. Any recomendations on one for my 1911. It does not have to be any form of quick draw but something just for carry on the range.

This Rig is an exact copy of a Western Holster Design for the 1911 Colt that first appeared in 1915. Made from Vegetable tanned Leathers and hand crafted and hand blocked for the perfect fit. The holster is Pigskin Lined to Protect the Finish of your Pistol. This Rig was named after the character William Holden played in the movie "The Wild Bunch". This holster is manufactured by San Pedro Saddlery of Arizona. The strap can go between the firing pin ( Cocked & Locked ) or it can be worn around the backstrap of the grip safety with the hammer lowered on an empty chamber.
The Belt is an original "Mill's" military issue, dated 1918, from the July 16, 1907 patent. I thought the belt and holster would match up.This is the Pike, using a reproduction Civil War Era belt from El Paso Saddlery. The leather is a perfect match but the photo does not capture much. I replaced the brass buckle with one which rattles less and provides a positive lock.

..Blueglass; During the past 25 years, I have been wearing the the Bianchi - B9 lined pistol belt....but, If I required a more sturdy belt, I wear my "Sunday Go To Meetings" rig ;D ....ML is correct on the belt; The Bianchi -B9 lined belt has served my purposes, but, It's not as rigid as the Wilson belt. Bianchi # B9 Pistol Belt
This particular #8 is for the mid frame four inch double action revolver, the L signifies that the holster is lined. Bianchi holsters usually features a suede lining, which is easier on the blued revolvers. The # 8L is one of my favorites for the mid frames, in placing the gun close to the body and high on the ride. After going through the first loop on the holster, I run the belt through my pants loop and through the other holster loop. This provides more stability with the heavier mid frame, while the suede lined #B9 pistol belt minumizes holster shifting. This holster is compatable with both the S&W and Colt . The earlier versions were manufactured with the exposed trigger guards, the newer versions have the trigger guards covered, and both feature the thumb snap strap release.

That certainly makes sence to me alright. I like the look of the Wild Bunch Holster and belt rig. Kinda Old style and somewhat suitable for my Norinco TT. in 45apc. The safety strap looks quite well for fitting on easily as well. They make it in 5" barrel as well. Might just have to price one out and see if they will mail up here.

The seller, that I bought this holster from was on ebay, and the seller was Mr. Bisley. This is one, on Gunbroker. Look at the payment options; I recommend "paypal". I have ordered holsters from sellers in England. .....The seller on this holster is also Mr. Bisley;. I paid $75. dollars, for mine, on ebay, in Sept. 2006 . This guy (seller) also has a facebook page. www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=333570008 ..Mr. Bisley on ebay : cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150741508228 .....The belts is a different story.

Mr Bisley has several on there at this time frame that I am interested in which will serve the purpose quite well for me. I hope he can ship to Canada and many of the vendors will not do that. We are totally open for goods like this to import especially anything to do with long guns is wide open now. Just the exception of fully automatics of course. Since we dropped the long gun registry up here it has been a blessing and so much easier to get things in from virtually anywhere in the world with our customs.
