NY recently passed a new restrictive knee-jerk reactionary bill to the Sandy Hook shootings that reduces the number of rounds we cn carry in a magazine, makes the purchase of "assault" firearms illegal, and requires the registration of those already owned.
Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard thinks it's useless and will detract resources from real threats to society. That's the good news.
He's openly refused to enforce the law. That's what's got me a little concerned. I'm glad that he sees it as unconstitutional, and think it's terrific that he's vocal about his opposition to it. My concern is that we shouldn't generally have law enforcement enforcing only the laws that they agree with. He could have done us a much greater service by holding back that last step.
