They passed a law in Nelson Georgia that the head of every household must own a gun for personal, and protection of all in the town. You can opt out if you really don't want one or have a valid reason. Too old or frail to shoot. Mentally defective, criminal record and so forth. It has around 1300 people living there. I wonder if they have a Gunshop there? They gonna be Busy for a while.

....blueglass; The city that you are referring to, is copying the same City Ordinance adopted by Kennesaw, Georgia during the early 80's. My Father's family lived in Kennesaw during this time, and these city ordinances is not enforce. More like making a statement, than creating a law.

....I once went shooting with my Father, when he was living in Kennesaw, but, there is no longer a place to target practice up there. All of the shooting areas has been cabled off for over twenty years.

I wondered when I read that article as it did seem a wee bit strange. Basically a permission slip for everyone to have one if you feel you need it. Sounds like the local Police will support you owning one with no hassle at all.

....blueglass; In Georgia, our State Laws allows us to carry our handguns concealed or in the open carry method. Many of those that carries in the open, does so out stupidity & ignorance or to show off their tupperware. When Kennesaw first adopted their City Ordinance, it was like a side show in a circus.

I can understand that happening as some of them would be into showing off just how tough they really think they are. That could start many problems as well as prevent them I would suspect. Each one thinking he has the biggest tool but he really doesn't.

...The Show Offs are mostly newbies. They also show up at the Gun Rallies with Ar-15 rifles or AK-47's strapped to their chests, wearing black tactical gear. Gives gun owners the wrong impression on the News Media. These clowns are about as bad as these Race Hustlers.

They think they are tough but only the gun really is the tough part. I don't have to show off like that at my club but just shoot to let them know who I am. Lately I have been shooting the ten out of all my smaller targets with my m41. At 25 yards last night I shot a 24 tens out of a 30 count. 5-9's and one 8. This just started about 2 months ago now I finally got it dialed in to my way. Got to do my M46 this way also.

.....Confidence and the skillful use of a weapon is concealed features, and I believe that the weapon should also remain concealed.

I subscribe to the same thought myself. Causes less problems when not in sight. Helps keep some of the Bravado down when there's no shown threat.
