Many of the local sporting goods stores and super stores have at least some ammo on the shelves, including the popular 9mm, .40, .45acp, and .223, but not in the diversity of loads and brands that there were a couple years ago. Two calibers still in short supply, .22lr and .308, with .22 being the scarcest of all.

We have been very fortunate up here to get all the 22 ammo I need. The CCI brand 40gr LR is NO problem to buy by the brick at all. I already lots of the Federal 22 ammo for my rifles but both of my S&W a m41 and a m46 need the CCI brand only. Fussy little devils these are, but fire very well with this brand. Just about all calibers are available up here except the Federal brand at the moment. They stopped shipping up here a few months ago so they could concentrate on shipping to the US side. Trying to help reduce the backlog. Wish I owned a ammo plant right now.

...The CCI Mini Mag .22 LR has a little blow back to recycle the slide or bolt. I knew of a guy that was a having a problem with his .22, and I suggested the Mini Mags....the problem was solved. My ammo dealer has been Georgia Arms, and they have their own factory, but it seems as though they have also been having problems with stocking their supply.

He should try changing the spring in that gun especially if its a Smith M41 or M46. They generally shoot better with the CCI ammo in them I have found over the years. Love mine for dependability.

I actually found some .22lr at a retail store this past week. I did wait close to an hour to get it, but I was able to buy some. I was at a gun show this weekend and the still had prices of $50-80 for bulk pack ammo. On another positive note, several tables had primers back down to a pretty normal price around here, $30/1000 for CCI, and Winchester. Powders were still very limited and a bit high averaging around $28-35/lb. Very little powder for pistol loads available, and only slightly more selection for rifle loads. I still have Red Dot powder with a price tag of $15 on it, and that wasn't all that long ago. Somehow, I doubt I'll see that price on a pound of powder again.

I haven't been out working in the shop for a month or so but still have a lb of powder left. I like the 231 ball powder myself and can go thru it pretty quick when I start reloading again. We are still in fairly good shape up here on obtaining most ammo and powder supplies surprisely enough. Almost as if we have not had any shortage at all.

....I think that problem lays will obtaining copper, to be used in the brass shell casings. With the Military demanding more shells, and the world wide demand for copper, this leaves us a ammo shortage for civilian use. I might be wrong, but this is my guess.

......"The FBI raided Bozeman based USA Brass Thursday morning" ...."USA Brass does not load ammunition, and the 22 current and former employees who tested with elevated levels of lead in their bloodstream were likely exposed by handling one-fired brass, or breathing airborne lead dust that wasn’t properly contained as the one-fired brass is cleaned." bearingarms.com/epa-fbi-raid-usa-brass/

Well I finally went to buy some CCI 22's and its all gone. The shortage has just caught up to us in that brand. Other brands are still in stock with it easy to get but not the CCI which my S&W 41 and 46 love to use. Anything else and they act up in the action of the guns. My dealers figure as long as 2 months they hope at the most or less. I am down to around 200 rounds of them but have bricks of Federal on hand which are good for my rifles. Folks got to stop hoarding the CCI ammo as that hurts everybody. I have 4 bricks of CCi on order from one dealer but know possibly the Blazer brand might work for now.

....Blueglass; Hoarding Ammo, is the result of Panic. This Panic happened when Bill Clinton was living in our White House....not so much as ammo, but it was about certain firearms and magazines. Thankfully; With Obama, We have The Internet at our finger tips.

The ammunition shortage is getting quite bad up here finally with absolutely NO CCI 22 cal ammo to be found. The rumour is that its all done for at least a year of 2 even if it ever comes back under that brand name. I have switched over to Eley Practise for my M41 and M46 but even that is drying up very quickly. The Eley was $72.00 a brick of 500 which is ridiculous. I have bought a 1860 Colt model pistol which handles Black Powder and caps. At least we can still get both of those up here without too much trouble. Traded a Pendersoli 45cal Black Powder rifle in on this pistol which I was not shooting too much. Didn't fit my arm length correctly so it was not comfortable to shoot.

I took the 1860 Black Powder pistol out to the range last night. That is pure pleasure to fire. Its the loudest handgun I have ever fired with only 25 grams of Black powder in it. Absolutely NO kick to it at all as well. There were 4 other guys at the far end of the line who were shocked by the loud retort from it. That was the most fun I have had in many months with a new gun. Wish I had known this years ago as all the prep work to load it was well worth the results.

Are any of you other members able to round up any CCI SV ammo in 22? at all. One of my fellow Black Powder shooters called them the other day and they stated that they are still producing around 225 million rounds a week. I wonder where in heck is all going to be gone that quick? Anyone have any ideas's on this matter?

You could well be correct but I certainly hope not for all of our sakes. The greed buying has to start slowing down soon I would think as there's only so much ammo stock any shooter can use. Sooner or later it will start to slow down again and get back to somewhat normal conditions where the buying public will figure it out. I know from our wholesalers up here that there's NO CCI products entering Canada at all for the rest of this year. Dosen't matter who they are.

...With people out of work, and metal crime at an all time high, Recycled brass cases isn't going towards civilian ammunition....especially with the military & law enforcement agencies being first in line.

Yes its the same up here as well unfortunately. Employment is really at a low here. I am fortunate that I have plenty of brass for my reloading which I have picked up at our ranges for free. My favorite all time price needless to say. Even my old company left London last year after 63 years of building the worlds best Locomotives. I retired before they left thankfully and got my full pension. Not all were so lucky.

from the CMP's webpage a few months ago. "Prior to 2013 CMP received deliveries of truckloads of ammo within a few weeks of placing orders. We are now being advised, as in the case of Aguila .22, that it may take several years to receive all of the 35,000,000 rounds of Aguila ammo we have on order."
