So Princess, my wife's favorite Teddy Bear gets a lot of clothes from Build-A-Bear Workshop even though she is a Gund. Next door in the mall they have a little corner that will take a picture and put it on a coffee mug for you. So I took a picture, put it on a flash-drive and went to the mall.
They had several mugs at different prices. I had difficulty understanding the guys "English", but decided on a pink mug. (One of the strange things was he called one mug a "magic mug"). Then a girl ahead of me had hers finished and it was on a black mug and looked really cool. Since he hadn't even printed my yet, I told him that I wanted it on a different mug and not seeing another black one like hers (shiny), I pointed to a dull black one.
They print the picture on a special paper, wrap the paper around the mug and secure it with a rubber band. They then heat the mug to a high temperature and remove the paper. He showed me the picture on the cup and it looked great. He also warned me that the cup was hot, and wrapped it up. Getting back to our apartment, I unwrapped it and set it on the counter-top. She was going to be thrilled, I thought. I had no idea.
About an hour later I went to the kitchen for ice-tea, and the picture was totally gone from the cup and it was replaced with this dull black finish. I was about to take it back to the mall when I remembered him talking about a "magic mug" and something to do with hot water. Could it be?
One nice thing about 220V systems is they can have high wattage pots for heating water without having to deal with high currents. I poured some water in the pot and it was hot in a few seconds.
As soon as I started pouring the water into the cup, the picture magically appeared.
So, when my wife came home, I showed her the black mug that Princess bought for her. (She drinks Jasmine Tea). She didn't look too pleased. I then poured the hot water into the mug and my wife's face lit up like she had been plugged onto 220V.
It would be a good time for me to go to a gun store, but since there aren't any...
