.....Some firearms come to us by way of chance, others we find by searching for our choice ....For myself, it varies with luck.

Same here as I drive to different Gunshows and stores in my area. We only have 2 gun shops in my city at this time with both being fairly well stocked for my needs but we also have 5-6 more within a 75 mile radius of London as well which are good to pick some good buys from as well on occasion. I am attending a gunshow this coming Sunday in a small city 25 east of London called Woodstock. There will be around 175 dealers there with a very large variety of new and used toys for sale. I quite often find some really good buys there on Black Powder rifles which I pass on to my group at my gunclub. I make a dollar or two profit which helps pay my ammo bill as well.

....While pondering through my thoughts, and the firearms that I have aquired....By Chance or By Choice, I have had better luck with running up on firearms by Chance. Usually; When I'm looking for a certain firearm, I usually pay more. When I least expect it, I run up on a good deal for a firearm that I have always wanted, but had it on the back burner of my list. ....Most of my better deals, has been with pre-owned firearms that has never been fired or fired only once. ....New In Box condition, for less than half the price of the newer version. More often; these pre-owned firearms are discontinued, because of the production cost and the skilled labor cost. I have acquired many treasures on the pre-owned market, but it took the word of mouth. If a co-worker had a relative that suffered from a layoff or a reduction of a workforce, with their company...I was known for being a propect. If anyone saw a certain firearm in a Gun Sales Counter, they would tell me about it.
..So;I have been lucky enough to aquire my best deals by chance. It's better to have patience.

I try to buy with the intent of keeping them for a while and of course trying different models out all the time. Sometimes they seem to never make it home even from the gun show I bought them at. Happened again last Sunday with a Black Powder rifle I bought, sold it within 1 hour of buying it for a $50.00 profit. A friend just had to have it so I know I will get to at least try it out once or twice. I bought him breakfast as well on Sunday and paid his way into the Gun Show. He was Happy paying me $50.00 over my cost for it.

.....blueglass; I'm like you....Whenever I buy a firearm, my intentions is to keep it. All of my firearms has stories behind them, and most models has changed, or been discontinued. If I wanted to replace any, I would be hard pressed in finding another replacement.

I was approached yesterday to sell my 45cal Model Senneca Black Powder rifle which I really love shooting. The guy offered really good profit for it but I will have a great deal of a hard time to replace this one. They are extremely rare here and very hard to find needless to say. One of Thompsons better models which is extremely light in weight for a wood stocked rifle. It fits my arms perfectly and shoots extremely well with 60-70 grains of powder. I use Blue jeans for patching material which I dampen a wee bit with water. Every second shot I swamp it out with Windsheild Washer Antifreeze. Its a really good barrel cleaner for this purpose.
