.....When I think of American Combat Police Revolvers, I think of S&W and Colt. The survival of a company relies of customers and demand, in the case of Revolvers, the demand of Police Revolvers has been on the decline for many years. Many reasons accounts for the decline of the Police Revolvers : Manufacturing Costs, Ammunition Capacity, Ease of Carry, Production Assembly, and Materials Used.....Mostly Ammunition Capacity and Costs.
.....Right before the 1994 Weapons ban took effect, there was a scramble to scoop up large capacity magazines and the semi-auto pistols, that chambered these magazines....this took the values of 6 round Double Action Revolvers into a nose dive. Once the Ban took effect, the revolvers made a come back, with 8 round cylinders....and Colt even brought back the Colt Detective Special. When the Weapons Ban ended in 2004,the higher capacity semi-auto pistols could be purchased, on the per-owned market, for far less than 10 years ago....while the older revolvers was increasing in value. Why was the older Revolvers increasing in value ?.....The Older Revolvers was manufactured with all steel components, Hand Fitted by Skilled Craftsmen, and the demand for Law Enforcement Revolvers was at the peak.
.....This Incident was the game changer for Law Enforcement, and This was the beginning of the end, for the Police Combat Revolvers. The F.B.I. has at their disposal, the scientific resources to thoroughly test ammunition and pistols.

This was the incident, which would later, lead to the standard issue .40 S&W cartridge, for many Law Enforcement agencies today.
