Took a trip on Princess Cruise Lines from Vancouver, BC up the inner passage to Alaska. Terrific trip. After spending a couple of days in Vancouver, we headed up to Ketchikan, Jueau, Skagway, Glacier Bay, and up to Seward. From there, we hopped on a glass roofed train up to Denali National Park, and then up to Fairbanks. A great trip. Moose, bear, humpback whales, orka, seals, salmon... Gold rush towns, timber towns, dogsleds, daylight at 11:30 at night. So much to see.
Found a small museum (in Ketchikan I think) with some old firearms from the boom days. Why they needed a gatling gun, I can't say.

Sounds like a great trip! I love going in those small town museums. Often they are mostly just filled with old junk from the region, but there are often a few nice things to see tucked under/around the hat that somebody's relative wore to FDR's inaugural speech.

Great minds think alike - we leave on Aug 14th to Alaska on Celebrity cruise. It is sponsored by the Weekly Standard Magazine and there are several sessions that are only open to the Weekly Standard passengers. My wife has been wanting to go on one of the annual Weekly Standard Cruises for a long time, and now that she is retired, we are finally going. All the good cabins were taken so we are at the back of the boat.

My oldest daughter and family have done this trip and they really enjoyed it a lot. Hopefully you will get to see the Whales and the Polar Bears as they sometimes can be seen from the ship. Apparently the food is really good as well so you should enjoy this holiday a lot.
