I'm not looking for a new handgun, but I thought I'd see what was new and interesting. Trips to gunshows are pretty boring, yielding tables of black polymer Glock, Ruger, Sprinfield, Taurus with a smattering of 1911's from most of the same folks with a side of Kimber, Sig and S&W. I went tooling around the internet and found a .380 1911 with a familiar name, Llama. They are now made in the Philippines and imported by Eagle Imports. After reading an article on the .380, I visited Eagle Imports. They import some interesting and some interesting firearms. Bersa out of Argentina. I've shot a couple of these and they are pretty decent guns for the price and intended purpose. Also out of Argentina, Comanche a line of revolvers and single shot pistols. The revolvers don't look bad, but the singe shot... Grand Power from Slovakia. I seem to recall Century importing these at one point in time. at any rate, here is their flagship 9mm, the X-Calibur SPS from Spain. Listed as a line of race ready guns. 21+1 rds of 9mm or .38super A couple more lines of 1911's from the Philippines, MAC with a number of versions including a contoured heel version for ccw, and a 6" target version. American Classic oddly enough from the Philippines... as the name implies a pretty classic version of the 1911. No pics linked... you should know what a 1911 looks like...

I don't know anything about the quality of the guns from the Philippines, but I will tell you that a lot of the people speak excellent English. I've dealt with some of them on the phone. I always ask what state people I talk to are from and I've been amazed that they were from the Philippines.

...Yeah; I agree with the questionable quality standards of firearms manufactured in the Philippines. Sometimes these lessor prices are too good to be true; There might be a reason for this.
