Remember the Double Tap .45ACP derringer? I remember thinking it was a cool modern take on the derringer, but not cool enough to buy one. 2 barrels and a spare clip in the grip. Heizer Defense and DoubleTap were once the same company and now Heizer has their own line of single shot derringers. check them out here. They offer versions in .45LC/.410, .223, and 7.62x39. Even with the porting, seems like ouch! to me. More interesting to me is the new line of very compact .45ACP semi auto, PKO455rd flush fit or 7rd extended magazines. Still looks like it'd be pretty painful to shoot much. Yes, I realize it is not meant to be a range gun.

If I had just waited another day, there is a whole section on what's new in my issue of American Rifleman, including a bit on the Heizer.

Well, I have the Doubletap and I'll tell you that it is absolutely the nastiest gun I've ever shot. I thought the S&W 360 was bad, but nobody that has shot my Doubletap has shot more than one round.

There was a saying I read a few times in reading reviews on the Doubletap, "It is the gun that kills on one end and maims on the other. "

Thinking about it some more, I just can't imagine what it would be like shooting the Doubletap in 223 or 7.62x39. I have that Bushmaster pistol in 223 and it is big and loud. However, I got a lot of complaints at the range about noise when shooting the Bond Arms with the 357 Magnum barrel. The Bond Arms frames are excellent quality and have a bit of weight to them. However, I wouldn't want to shoot anything like the S&W 460 Mag or S&W 500 Mag. Heck, I wouldn't even want to shoot 44 Mag out of one.

.....For myself; The small frame revolvers, with the skinny triggers, is a hand full. I would rather have a full size magnum in my grip. My Sig Sauer P-239 in 357 sig & 40 S&W and My Colt Officer's ACP in .45 acp shoots very well, however, I wouldn't depend on anything smaller in larger calibers.

New from my neck of the woods.... A M1 carbine pistol. I like the idea of the reproduction M1 carbine, but not so much for the pistol. These guys made quite a splash in the mil-surp and reenactor circles where the announced their carbines, but the starting price is still higher than an original/surplus/collectable rifle. www.inland-mfg.com/index.html

Same as my Puma "Mare's Laig" lever actin pistol. I like the short barrel, but, being manufactured as a pistol, a long rifle stock can't be installed. I always liked the Colt Commando M16A2,, I caught sight of this shorty when I was serving in Vietnam
