I always kind of liked the Beretta 92FS open design. I figured it would never stove-pipe. Then last week I met a Vet that was buying a plastic gun. He told me he felt guilty every time he bought something that wasn't a 1911 because a 1911 saved his life a couple of times. He went on to tell me that he had an old WWII 1911 and his troops had the M9 that jammed a lot. What? I was amazed to hear that. He went on to say that the openness of the M9 was the problem because sand would get into it.
I'm sure the people that decided on the M9 design never fought in a desert.

The first handgun I ever fired was a Beretta M9. Oddly, I don't think I've fired one since.

.....Came very close to purchasing a Beretta, several times, however, I became distracted by another Colt 1911, another Double Action Revolver, or another Sig Sauer. Most that knew me, also knew what I liked....This included my co-workers, friends, relatives, or local gun dealers. No matter; Another pistol would mean more magazines, different gun leather, and more manuals.
