Since my cheap Savage Axis donor turned out too good to tear apart, I'm looking for another action to build my wildcat. I think I might try another Savage. This time one of their target actions. The trigger is adjustable down to 6oz if desired. Why a Savage action, because I think it is easily in my skill set to barrel one of these, and I really only need to buy the wrench.
Looking at the project, depending on my choice of stocks, it may be cheaper for me to buy a rifle and rebarrel it. But then I might end up with another rifle that is "too good" to change.
