So according to my doctor my shoulder has healed enough to allow me to shoot this revolver. So I did it last week.
After the scheduled surgery next week... just kidding. However it was an experience.
I had a box of 200 GR hollow point ammo and I shot 20 rounds and my buddy shot 5 rounds.
This thing is a beast. It has recoil. That is to say it isn't that the muzzle flips up in the air - the gun comes back towards your hand.
My 115 lb wife can't even hold it up long enough to take a shot!!!! Since I can't afford a divorce lawyer, I would not attempt to allow her to shoot it.
It is a great revolver built on the X-frame by S&W. It would be great for home defense. If someone broke into your home and you pointed this at them, they had better be wearing an adult diaper.
Will I use it for a primary weapon for home defense? Probably not. I'll stick with my Wilson Combat shotgun and my Ruger P90 as backup. After thousands of rounds, you kind of know what you can depend on when the SHTF.

Glad to hear you're healed up and back to your old tricks. I've not shot anything since late November. Probably getting quite rusty.

I know this thread is about the .460, but your talk of self defense with it reminded me of a meme about the other X frame gun.

5OT, yes there is that other X-Frame revolver. However with a 440 grain bullet in the 460XVR, you are really there in terms of muzzle energy and knock down power. I've shot both, but I still haven't shot the Dessert Eagle in 50 A&E. A friend who can bench press 300 lbs has shot it, and told me: "No way are you shooting this". I guess it has to do with the springs and how the recoil is delivered. Having now had surgery on both of my shoulders, I kind of tend to listen to him.
Also, it is nice to know that there are friends out there that really care about me - as do my ole friends on this forum.

Interesting: I didn't see the shock wave moving up his right arm like what I've seen in some of the 500 S&W videos. My recently retired, bored, wife has a lot of travel planned this year, but at some point I should get some range time in and I'll give this a shot (no pun intended). The good news is that my wife is getting interested in guns and has been shooting lasers at a receptive target using real guns and the Laserlyte targets.
