About 3 months ago I got some MGW Hi profile sights for my Norinco 1911A1. My barber who is also a Pistolsmith put them on for me for less than $15, and as I was looking at it, we decided to do some more work on it. He is going to put a Mcormick thumb safety, Wilson trigger, Masen skeletonized hammer, Clark Beavertail Safety, and a Colt flat mainspring housing on it. He is also going to lower and flare the ejection port, and open up and bevel the mag. well. All he is charging me is the price of the parts at his cost, around $50. Now the tough part..........waiting

Gotta like the 1911 format...can turn just about any 1911 into a very different gun with all the aftermarket parts.
Sounds like a deal almost to goo to be true. What does he charge for a cut?
When it finally gets done, let us know how it shoots.

Mountaineer; That's alot of work for $50.; I know some self taught smiths charging that much just for the thumb safety. He probably enjoys the passion of working on a piece more than anything else. Flaring & Lowering the ejection port is not really necessary unless the brass is to be reloaded; Some believe it helps ejection with a larger port opening and the flaring assist in deflecting the brass. Either way; I have both and find that the lowering of the port helps reduce fouling in the chamber more than one with the standard port opening, although on some steel it might weaken the strength of the slide in that area.

Thanks DA, he works on 1911's and Glocks for relaxation he says, and not in any hurry . Quite a bit of my brass gets dented up when it ejects, and I reload so I thought it might be a good idea to have the port flared, I hope it doesn't weaken the slide. The steel on the Norinco seems to be pretty hard.

TMan I don't tip him for a hair cut . 5ontarget, He charges $9 for a hair cut. I think his pistol smithing is more reasonably priced than his hair cuts ;D.
