Any of you guys know of any good articles or reviews that can be had online about the Springfield XD's? A buddy of mine might be interested in one, and am trying to help him find some info.
Thanks.

I've got an XD357. When it first came out, I regarded XD's as a "Glock Knock Off". Now, howerver; I have done a 180, and have fallen in love with them. I could not be happier w/ my XD than I am. Quality is just as good, if not better than Glock. For one, you can shoot lead bullets, and secondly you don't have to worry about a partially supported chamber, as to an XD's fully supported one. I will say, the durability of the finish leaves something to be desired, but I don't use my Kydex holster much now, so it's not getting any worse.
P.S. NRA voted the XD the "Gun Of The Year" in 2003.

My CHL instructor let me shoot his Glock and his XD-9. I shot better with the XD-9 than I did with the Glock. I asked him if I could borrow his XD-9 to qualify with. He agreed, I qualified, and later bought one.
I guess the only thing I don't like about it is that mine has a 6.75 lb trigger pull vs. 4.75 on the CZ-75B. I've only put 600 rounds through the XD, and I haven't had any failures. I've personally never met anyone that had one that didn't like it. In fact my range officer borrowed the same XD-9 to take his CHL exam.

My buddy has the 4" .40S&W model. It is a functional duty firearm. He does have some intermittent feed problems with flatpoints.
I've told him to polish the feed ramp which he neglects to do.
Other than that its the Glcok without the grip angle. I appreciate the Glock grip angle so go shoot what you want to shoot. I'd take a free XD any day.
The XD is a fine gun.

I also enjoy the added little bit of safety from the palm safety, that the Glock dosen't have.

I got my wife a used XD9 for Christmas. It did fine for a while, but then it developed extraction issues. Usually one round in 50 woulfd fail to extract. It is very accurate, easy to shoot. I would like to figure out how to disassemble the slide and take a hard look at the extractor, but it was easier to just switch guns. It could be a laquered chamber, because we did shoot some Wolff ammo through it. Here's a link to the XD Forums. www.hs2000talk.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi

It seems that every so often the gun shoots the shell back at you as opposed to shooting it to the side. Not sure what would cause this but several hot casings have slipped into my collar and that does indeed suck.

I have shot several XD's. I thought it wasn't bad, but magazines are not as durable as the Glock (but this is MY complaint about most guns). I have a friend who won one in a match, (he is a top shooter). He has had a number of problems with it. He says it is not bad for the price, but not worth much more than he paid!

Anybody have an XD with the 5" barrel?? I've seen the 9mm and .40 cal in the 4" but nobody seems to have the 5".
There's probably not a noticeable difference to the average handgunner, but I think I would still like the 5".

I went looking for one. A gun store where they seem to have just about every kind of gun under the sun said that they're extremely difficult to find. He also said that they're insanely expensive. According to him, they were never liked by the market and it wasn't profitable to make more than a handful anymore. I'm not sure I believe the line this guy was trying to sell me...he probably wanted me to go ahead and buy one with a 4" barrel, (which I did). Either way, I've had no sucess in locating one.
