Looking for a carry .45 and am considering the P245. Would appreciate opinions from those who shoot it. Thanks.

Hello Texas Ranger, There are a few Sig afficianados on this board who can help you with that particular gun. You can also try doing a search at www.sigforum.com. I have a Sig P220ST and if the P245 is anything like it in terms of quality I don't think you can go wrong.

I have many variations of the Sigs, including three 220s, two being chambered in the .45 acp, a couple of 229s, a 226, a 239, and two 229 Sport pistols. All of my sigs are chambered in the .40 S&W / .357 sig, .45 acp, or .38 super. Back when the 220 in .45 acp was the only larger bore pistol available from Sig, many where hoping that a compact version would soon be released; I was carrying the Sig 220 as my primary at the time. Then the 239 arrived in the .40 S&W, along with the .357 sig conversion barrel; The personnal size option to the 220 had arrived. When the 245 finally appeared, many within my own close circle of contacts recommended that I pass on it. The reasoning was that the 245 would not measure up to what I was already accustomed to with the sigs that I already owned. In my humble opinion; The 245 serves a purpose to some, who "feel" the "need" to reduce the carry size of the 220. I would option to go with a lightweight Colt Officer's ACP, Kimber, or other compact alloy frame .45 acp in the 1911, rather than the 245 for carry. The compact 1911 with give you a lower profile, shorter & lighter trigger strokes, a higher grip, with barrel lengths of 3 1/2 or 4" inches. The Compact 4" Kimber may be the better choice, since the Colt Officer's will only be found on the pre owned markets, and the Kimber already features those enhancements required for the 4" short recoil 1911s. Or you can change calibers and give a look at the 239 in .40 S&W / 357 sig. If I find the need to carry a .45 acp, I go with the 220, the Colt Officer's acp, the Colt Combat Commander, or the Wilson Combat CQB Compact. Lightweight Commanders are also an option.
